My name is Julia Marshall [nee Edge]. I was born in England and moved to Australia in 2006 to get married. I am a professional nanny and have trained at college Norland, renouned as the world's best nanny college. I completed my diploma in 1992 and have three childcare qualifications: My N.N.E.B, Royal Society of Health Diploma in Childcare and my Norland Diploma. I have worked with newborns through to 11-year olds.
The aim of the agency is to offer parents more childcare options. It also aims to supply daycare centres with relief staff. If you aren't quite sure what kind of help you need, we would also be happy to advise you. If you have any sort of childcare problem, let us help you solve it!
Since writing for the wonderful local childen's magazine (Cairns Kids), I have realised that Cairns has parents just like everywhere else in the world: Parents who need a diverse range of childcare aid and somewhere friendly to turn. I am here to listen, help and also give advice on problems such as sleep routines, weaning and toilet training (just to name a few).
Cairns Nannies is an introduction agency. We personally interview all potential carers and follow up on at least three references (when possible, all of them). We check each potential nanny's qualifications and ensure that they have a blue card and a clear criminal history. All our carers are over 18, which we also check by means of visual identification (ie. a passport or driver's licence).

A nanny is a carer with either childcare qualifications or vast experience in childcare, who either comes into your home on a daily basis or lives in your house to look after your children.
A nanny will either be sole guardian, where the children are left with them whilst the parents are out or be in shared care, where a parent will be also be caring for the children at the same time (although they may still choose to leave the children with their nanny for short periods of time).
